Governance
Committee and Council Activities
The
Church Council is
the representative governing body of the
Church.
The
Religious Education
Committee supervises and directs the
educational work of the Church. Christian
Education at First Congregational UCC provides
experience and knowledge of Christian living in
ways that are meaningful and relevant to each
individual both young and old. We build
social consciousness and community through
relationships.
The
Stewardship Committee members
encourage and support stewardship within the
church by promoting an understanding that
stewardship includes time, talent, and financial
support. This committee organizes and
administers the financial pledging program to
meet the financial needs of the church as well
as a time and talent database.
The
Lay Life and Fellowship Committee members
are responsible for the care of the Church
family.
The
Spiritual Life Committee
members are responsible for serving the
congregation by nurturing the spiritual growth
of its members. The Spiritual Life
Committee seeks to create a church environment
that first, contributes to and enhances the life
of the congregation as a faith community.
The Committee also seeks to encourage and
support the individual spirituality and
spiritual growth of church members through
music, traditional and alternative worship
experiences and lay participation. The
Spiritual Life Committee works to support the
work and leadership of the Music, Worship, and
Church Growth and New Member subcommittees.
The
Mission Education and
Social Concerns Committee coordinates the
missions and services of the Church beyond the
scope of the local church membership community
and works to ensure that Christian missions and
social concerns both in the United States and
throughout the world will be a major priority of
the church. This is evidenced by financial
contributions, attendance at ongoing educational
opportunities and personal commitment of time
and effort.
The
Church Growth and New
Member Committee invites and welcomes
people in a spirit of love and provides
information to members and the public about our
church, its mission and works.
The
Facilities Committee
works to create an accessible, flexible, and
well-maintained building and grounds capable of
handling a wide variety of activities including
worship, education, music and social activities,
and that has modern support facilities such as a
kitchen, office, meeting rooms, and adequate
parking.
