Challenge Route:
58 miles one way from Eau Claire taking advantage of the hilly terrain for the advanced rider. Riders leave the Chippewa River trail in Caryville onto county roads to Nelson and following hwy 35 to Wabasha.
Legs: The never-say-die rider will still be fresh when arriving in Wabasha about 3:00 PM. Additional 20 mile options are available from Wabasha into the MN countryside.
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT: Enjoy the camaraderie of new and old friends in the historic river city of Wabasha.

Family Event Route:
Family Event Route: 20 miles round trip to Caryville. Families receive special incentives when they arrive at Caryville.  Children immediately understand what it feels like for a child to live without shelter or family. Invisible Children, Inc. was organized through a motivation of children helping children. Share with your children the experience of a bike ride that is changing lives across the world.
Families may ride for a $40 nonrefundable registration fee and donations totaling $100. Families ride from the starting point to Caryville (a distance of 10 miles) and return. Children will enjoy the generous rest stops and snacks along the way. Tired riders receive deluxe treatment with a Sag Wagon lift to Eau Claire. All finishers receive recognition from Bike to the Border

FOOD:
Water, juice and snacks will be available at all rest stops along the route. It’s much better to eat several times a day than to try to pedal on a full stomach. Carry some type of high energy food with you for times when you may need a boost.  Evening meal options are explained in the registration packet.

T-SHIRTS: T shirts will be given to each rider with registration. Additional shirts will be available for purchase during the ride.

FIRST AID: Emergency medical treatment will be provided by trained staff as needed along the route. Suggestions for your own first aid kit: aspirin, ibuprofen, band-aids, gauze, tape, first-aid cream, lip balm, sun block, insect repellent, safety pins, and special medicines.

LUGGAGE: Each rider is allowed one piece of luggage with a sleeping bag. Please label everything that you take on the Bike to the Border ride so that lost items can be returned to the owners. Your luggage must be to the trailer by 8:00 AM.

BICYCLE EQUIPMENT: Find your helmet, and make sure it fits correctly. Wear it whenever you are on a bike during the ride. Consider bringing a small repair kit that includes: a tire, spare tube, tire irons and small wrenches. In addition, a rear view mirror, bike gloves, pump, bike bag, rain gear, bicycle lock and water bottles are helpful equipment. Replacement tubes will be available in emergencies during the ride.

SLEEPING GEAR: For overnight, you’ll need a sleeping bag, pillow, pad, and a flashlight. Bring toiletries, towel and soap. Riders may make their own overnight reservations.
